Custom Projects

Named in honour of long-standing board member Frank Curtis, the Frank Curtis Workshop is the heart of CfAT’s innovation and fabrication. Located on-site in Alice Springs, the workshop is where our team designs, prototypes, and builds products tailored for life in bush communities.

With a strong focus on practical, culturally-informed design, the Frank Curtis Workshop produces everything from large-scale infrastructure to moveable tools that are built to last in bush conditions.

The facilities in the workshop allow CfAT to design, manufacture, fabricate and assemble customised products and structures - so if you are looking for a technology solution to a particular need in remote communities, the CfAT workforce can provide the solution, and deliver them to communities.

This innovative and hands-on aspect of CfAT’s work, provides many learning opportunities for the Aboriginal staff we employ. These employment pathways in design, welding, construction, and remote technology solutions mean our Aboriginal staff can take their skills back to their home communities and put them to use in helping people to live sustainably on country.
