On Wednesday 27 February 2013, Jenny Macklin, Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and Warren Snowdon Minister for Indigenous, Regional and Rural Health, announced a 4.36M investment in projects at Utopia to assist families live more sustainably and support local organisations.
The Centre for Appropriate Technology (CfAT) welcomes the Ministers announcement and will work closely with the Utopia community and other stakeholders over the next year to deliver projects that make homes safer and more energy efficient and improve the reliability of local water supplies.
CfAT has a track record of working effectively and respectfully with residents of remote communities in technical problem solving and technical service delivery and in ensuring that any program of works builds on existing community strengths and aspirations.
